Expanding our services to become a Community Housing Provider
The Selwyn Foundation has been looking at innovative ways to expand our services, so we can help greater numbers of elderly who need the security of a home and who are isolated and struggling. Always looking for opportunities to make a difference, The Selwyn Foundation successfully applied to the Community Housing Regulatory Authority and became an officially registered Community Housing Provider (CHP).
We can now support tenants who face financial hardship by accessing the Ministry of Social Development’s income-related rent subsidy.
Partnering with Auckland Council
Our status as a Community Housing Provider allowed us to submit a Request for Proposal in relation to Auckland Council’s Housing for Older People services.
We were subsequently named as the council's preferred community housing partner for homes for older Aucklanders. This partnership enables us to contribute to the future of affordable housing and to create safe, thriving and age-friendly communities and also provide additional services for the benefit of older people in need.
